The original Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act came into force in 1980, and the supporting Regulations in 1985. The TDG Act was revised in 1992, and remains in effect today. The Regulations have now been completely rewritten in a version referred to as the Clear Language Version.

The revised Clear Language Version Regulations came into effect on August 15, 2002.
